Hi,

i have installed Oracle 8 Release 8.0.5 on Windows XP pro but when Windows start I take this error message all the time

‘strtdb80.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.’

After closing the message I can work with Oracle but I take the message again and again.

If you have any idea about the problem PLEASE answer me.

Thanks a lot.

I loaded Oracle 8 also and have the same problem. I'm going to change the services for this executable from automatic to manual. Oracle 8 is for NT and Win2000. I just need the drivers that are installed.

I set all oracke services to manual and the error has stopped appearing. I used it for drivers and now happy to use to access database and no further errors.

This error does not seem to prevent Oracle 8i for Windows 95 running on windows XP.

Oracle seems to work fine however I have not tried connecting to a remote server yet as I am only using it for studying purposes at home.

Go to main windows 'blank' screen, press F1, go to 'search', type 'service', press hot link for 'services', find 'Oracle' service that you wish to change, change attribute to 'manual'.
