I have installed the oracle 8i server on windows nt server.At the end of the installation I got the message showing me the global database name,the SID,the usernames and passwords.But now when I try to logon in any of the accounts(system,sys or internal)using the sid as the host string I get the error
ORA-12154:TNS could not resolve the service name

Make sure the tnsnames.ora file is updated
