Has anyone had any experience with Oracle Direct Connect?

Our IT director is nervous about letting a third party have remote access to our servers. I’ve read the marketing blurb on the Oracle web-site but I’d like some first hand accounts from anyone who has used this service.

Any help gratefully received.
