Dear Friends,

Hope you find in best of Health & Surroundings !

Due to crisis our company still running on Oracle 7.3 on HP-ux platform.How can I convince them its time for Ugradation to Oracle 9i aor Oracle 10g ? Tell me some crucial points that will help me to advance to present version.
do needful ASAP as I need to furnish them.

Look at documentation what's new in oracle 9i or in oracle 10g. This will answer.

Either you still use 7.3 "due to a crisis", and then there's nothing you can/should do about it, or there is no crisis, and hence no excuse NOT to migrate.
Are you still using Windows 95 on your machines? Ask them why they think upgrading that is the 'logical' way, and upgrading an ancient Oracle version is any different from that.

Obsolescence, a product released 11 years ago can't run in current machines and OS.
Security. If I can get the IP of your server, I can do what I want. Nothing you can do in your server can prevent from my intrusion.

Well, for one, if you have a problem, you won't get any support from Oracle. I also think all the people outside of Oracle Corporation who may be able to help you have died of old age by now Wink

For how much longer will the hardware continue to function? Remember that migration must never be done in haste! What happens if the hardware fails? Can you get spare parts? When you can't get any more spare parts and have to move to newer hardware you will probably find that the Oracle 7.3 won't run on that hardware without the use of an emulator.
